Traditional Chinese Acupuncture is one aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). TCM is a comprehensive medical system still used as part of main stream health care in China today,with a history of over 4000 yrs.
TCM is based on a number of theories and uses a complex diagnostic system to treat many modern medical conditions. TCM observes the body holistically, consisting of different internal organs which must work together as a whole in order to maintain the smooth flow of Qi and the correct balance between Yin and Yang.
Laura graduated a full-time five year degree program and was awarded with a BSc (Hons) TCM from Middlesex University and a Bachelor of Chinese Medicine from Beijing University. This degree course is regarded as Europe's leading TCM program and trains students in all TCM therapies as well as western medical diagnostic and clinical skills.
Laura has been supervised by and worked alongside some of the most prestigious TCM doctors in both England and China. As part of her degree, she trained in two hospitals in Beijing on an intensive five month clinical placement. During this time, she gained in depth knowledge and expertise within all major hospital departments including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurology, gynecology, dermatology and pediatrics.
Laura has also worked and trained within the Whittington Hospital NHS Pain clinic, The Asante Academy of Chinese Medicine, and The Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Laura has also completed specialist training in Fertility and Obstetrics and is a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network.
Laura also runs clinics in Jesmond and Sunderland.
