Hypnosis

Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis is not sleep, the client is completely aware of their surroundings although they may choose to ignore them. The therapist may ask the client to ignore things or to concentrate their attention on one idea, thought or feeling, but ultimately it is the client who makes the choices.

Hypnosis is an induced state of physical and mental relaxation and concentration in which the normally inaccessible, subconcious part of the mind becomes more readily accessible. The Hypnotherapists role being to act as a guide, both in leading the hypnotic induction and in enabling the most effective use to be made of the hypnotic state to bring about the required changes.

David will use his voice to induce the state of Hypnosis and although you are unlikely to feel ‘hypnotised’ as such, you will probably experience a feeling of mental and physical relaxation and your memory may well be enhanced. You will find David to be a professional person totally devoid of any mystical or magical powers, no flowing robes or swinging watches– just a reassuring manner to put you at ease, and the expertise to help you with your problem.

The International Asociation of Hypno-Analysts

The International Association of Hypno-Analysts is dedicated to the professional and ethical use of Hypnosis allied to the practice of Psycho-Analysis for the treatment of nervous disorders and emotional problems. The Association is a non profit making organisation whose Members have followed a course of training in Psychotherapy, analysis and Hypnosis which enables them to specialise in "Hypno-Analytical Therapy".

Members of the Association are bound by a Code of Practice and Ethics of the highest order: they have satisfied an Examination Board of their knowledge and level of competence and have undertaken to abide by the Rules of the Association which requires that they are covered by Professional indemnity Insurance and such Certificate of Insurance must be available for inspection. Members have also agreed to discharge each and every client from treatment at the earliest possible moment consistent with that clients good care. Every Member undertakes to respect the clients confidentiality at all times and would not even disclose to a spouse or parent that they were undergoing treatment. All Members of the Association have undertaken that any hypnotic (or post hypnotic) suggestion given to any client will be so worded that the effect can only be beneficial to the client. They have a clear understanding of "Symptom Substitution" which without being too technical means the possibility of switching say from Agoraphobia to Claustrophobia and in consequence will only use what is popularly termed “Suggestion Therapy” for the more minor problems where the probable substitution can be foreseen and therefore controlled. e.g. Anti Smoking Therapy would contain suggestions to avoid over eating.

Each Therapist controls his or her own Practice in their own way. However the Association aims to maintain standards of the highest order and by selecting a Member of the Association to assist you, your trust will not be misplaced.

The Therapy

There are two different treatments using Conscious Hypnosis available:

SUGGESTION THERAPY — which is used for simpler problems such as smoking, nail biting, pre-test nerves, slimming, relaxation, confidence boosting etc. and which require only one or two sessions with perhaps a booster later on.

ANALYTICAL THERAPY — which is used to discover CAUSES of psychological problems (and of course, one does mix the two therapies)

Hypno analysis can be summarised as the doctrine of ‘cause and effect’, every effect (the symptom) must have a cause. Hypno Analysis reveals and thus removes the cause, and as a consequence, relieves the symptom.

Emotional problems respond particularly well to Conscious ‘Hypno-Analysis’. The object of Analysis is to bring you to ‘a moment of surprising and liberating enlightenment’ and one can be fairly confident that a release will be obtained usually within eight to twelve sessions of Analysis. With these cases we are talking about a complete and lasting release, by finding and removing originating causes—as opposed to mere control of symptoms by suggestion.

There is no reason why anyone should put up with something ‘ inside themselves but outside their control’. Provided they are prepared to devote time, money, effort and self discipline to be free of their problems. The use of Conscious Hypnosis dramatically speeds up Analysis, and similar results can be achieved in a few weeks as would be expected from a more conventional ‘1000 hour’ Analysis.

David deals with many problems. You can be sure, however that whether you are a modest smoker merely needing a little help to stop or you feel you have little to live for, you will in either case receive the best attention at all times. Your confidentiality and right to privacy and anonymity are respected at all times.

  Frequently Asked Questions…

What is Hypnosis?
A state of relaxation and concentration at one with a state of heightened awareness induced by suggestion. It is a non addictive power for good and is a natural manifestation of the mind at work.

Are there some people you cannot hypnotise?
No (Except mentally handicapped, although the degree varies from person to person).

Are drugs or tablets used?
No.

Will I be aware of what's happening?
Yes. The predominant feeling of most poeple is "it didn't work for me, I never went under".

So I am not asleep then?
No, simply extremely relaxed (This is why the technique is called "Concious Hypnosis".

Is there any cause at all for concern?
None whatsoever. Hypnosis is a proven therapeutic aid.

How many visits will I need?
Simpler problems, like smoking, nail biting, slimming, pre test nerves etc. usually require 1 to 3 sessions and the success rate is surprisingly high. The more deep rooted nervous disorders require "analytical" rather than "suggestion" therapy which usually consists of 8 to 12 weekly sessions.

Could I be influenced to do anything against my will or nature?
No. In fact you would be shocked out of the hypnotic state immediately is any such action was suggested to you.

Can normal people be hypnotised?
Not only can, but should be, for an insight into yourself it has no equal.
